A. Vijay Mudgil, M.D.

Dr. Mudgil comes to West Chester, PA from the internationally renowned Wilmer Eye Institute at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he served as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology. A fellowship trained and board certified ophthalmologist, he has broad clinical interests and expertise in ophthalmology. He specializes in the treatment of strabismus, cataract/refractive surgery, medical retina, glaucoma, and eyelid surgery. Dr. Mudgil has been recognized by the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus for his extensive research involving the treatment of eye muscle disorders and correction of double vision. He has been involved in national research involving laser surgery to prevent blindness in premature babies.

Dr. Mudgil is a Phi Beta Kappa Honors graduate of the Accelerated Seven-Year Biomedical Program at Union College and Albany Medical College. He completed residency at the Brown University School of Medicine/Rhode Island Hospital, where he was Chief Resident. He did his fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute/ Johns Hopkins Hospital, which has been rated the #1 eye institution by US News and World Report, the “best of the best,” for the last 13 years.

After rigorous training and teaching at the nation’s best eye institutions, Dr. Mudgil returns to West Chester, where he first met his wife, to be closer to family. We are pleased to welcome you as a patient and promise you the highest level of personalized, state-of-the-art ophthalmic care.


Monica R. Khitri, M.D.

With an exceptional training background, Dr. Khitri comes very highly recommended from her colleagues and patients. She comes to us from the world-renowned Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. Dr. Khitri specializes in the treatment of strabismus, cataracts, glaucoma, eyelid surgery, diabetic eye disease, and more. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. She is passionate about eye and vision research and has published several research articles in leading medical journals on subjects such as glaucoma and eye muscle disorders. Her research has been recognized by the Pediatric Glaucoma and Cataract Family Association.

Originally from California, she completed her medical school training at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Medicine. She was named the top female graduate of her class and graduated with alpha omega alpha (AOA) honors. She continued on for her ophthalmology residency at the highly ranked Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. Dr. Khitri came to the Philadelphia area to join the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she completed fellowship training.
